With the announcement of Chiara Voigt as Newcastle’s Face of Façon two weeks ago, the model search has come to an end for 2018. As the Gold Sponsor, we at Matthews Jewellers were delighted to see 16-year-old Chiara from Adamstown Heights win the modelling contest! This was run by Newcastle-based fashion magazine Façon in collaboration with international modelling agency, CHIC Management.
Chiara was announced as the winner after a runway event hosted at Westfield Kotara, featuring the contest’s eight finalists. As the exclusive jewellery partner of the Face of Façon event, Matthews Jewellers provided our finest pieces for the finalists to model on the runway. The girls showcased a number of exquisite pieces from the Matthews Collection, and the Hearts On Fire, Daniel Bentley, and Argyle Blush Pink Diamond ranges.
These pieces included:
-
Hearts On Fire Lorelei Bangle, Hoop Diamond Earrings and Diamond Pendant
-
Argyle Blush Pink Diamond Studs and Pendant, Rose Gold Bracelet
-

Although Chiara had considered sending photos to a modelling agency prior to being part of the Face of Façon contest, she had never modelled before. Chiara’s mum Larissa came across the Façon competition on social media and encouraged her to enter. Chiara didn’t have the confidence to enter at first, and only applied the day that the competition was closing.
And lucky she did, because Chiara has now won a development contract with Chic and will become the ‘Face of Façon.’ Included in the prize, Chiara received a VIP movie pass, a $500 Matthews Jewellers voucher, and will also do a test shoot in CHIC Management’s Sydney studio, and an editorial shoot in Façon Book Five – distributed nationally.
But Chiara wasn’t the only one who went home happy. The twelve semi-finalists of the competition each received a professional photoshoot at Façon studio and a CHIC Management one day model workshop, with the eight finalists receiving a prize pack from the event’s sponsors, including a $100 Matthews Jewellers voucher. CHIC also gave a contract to the contest runner-up Madyson Thomas, 17, from Fletcher.
The Face of Façon model search was a huge success and it was fantastic for Matthews Jewellers to be a part of the process. We are already looking forward to next year’s event.
